Concrete Slabs in Cuyahoga County, OH
Garage floors, patios, walkways, pads and steps take daily wear and seasonal abuse. When a slab cracks, sinks or spalls, Imperial Waterproofing Inc. cuts out the bad section and replaces it to level the surface again. We serve Cuyahoga County, owner supervised by Ray since 1981.
What It Is
Concrete slab work covers garage floors, patios, walkways, equipment pads and entry steps. It includes both new pours and the targeted replacement of failed sections, where we cut out the damaged slab and pour a fresh section that ties back in level.
Because slabs sit close to the soil and take direct weather exposure, the base and the joints matter as much as the concrete. We compact the base, set proper slope for water, and place joints so the new slab moves with the seasons instead of cracking under them.

How We Do It
Our process keeps your project clean and clear. Owner supervised by Ray on every job.
Ray inspects the slab, the base and the drainage to find out why it failed.
We cut out the damaged section cleanly so the new pour ties in level.
The base is recompacted and the slope is set so water sheds away.
Joints are placed to control cracking as the slab moves with temperature.
Concrete is poured, finished and cured for freeze and thaw and salt exposure. Owner supervised by Ray and built by our crew of 5.
Why Slabs Crack Here
Cuyahoga County freeze and thaw cycles push slabs up and down every winter. Water that enters a crack or a soft base expands when it freezes, heaving the slab and widening the damage until the surface breaks apart.
Garage floors and entry steps across Cleveland and its suburbs also take heavy salt exposure. A slab poured with the right base, slope and joints resists both the physical force of freeze and thaw and the chemical attack of deicing salt.

Common Questions
Q.Can you replace just the bad section of my garage floor or patio?
Yes. We cut out the damaged section cleanly and pour a fresh section that ties back in level with the surrounding slab. This is often the smartest fix when only part of the slab has failed.
Q.What types of slabs do you pour and replace?
We handle garage floors, patios, walkways, equipment pads and entry steps, both as new pours and as section replacements. Each slab is built with the right base, slope and joints for its use.
Q.Why did my concrete slab crack and sink?
Most slab failures come from a soft or washed out base, poor drainage, or freeze and thaw heaving. Water gets under the slab, the base gives way, and the concrete cracks and sinks. We fix the base and the drainage so the new section does not fail the same way.
Q.How do you keep a new slab from cracking in Ohio winters?
We compact a solid base, set proper slope so water does not pool, and place control joints so the slab cracks where we want it to instead of randomly. The concrete mix is chosen for freeze and thaw and salt exposure.
Q.Do you pour entry steps and walkways?
Yes. We pour and replace entry steps, walkways and porch caps, including ones that have cracked, spalled or pulled away from the home. We build them to hold up to foot traffic and winter salt.
